Franke James<\/strong>, Co-founder, The James Gang, is the author and designer of two award-winning books. Bothered By My Green Conscience<\/a> won the 2010 Green Book Festival Award for Graphic Novels.<\/a> Her game-book, Dear Office-Politics<\/a> is the winner of a 2010 Axiom Business Book Award<\/a> in Human Resources and Training. Franke has been featured on TV, print, radio and online.<\/a> She has delivered keynote speeches<\/a> and workshops<\/a> in Canada and the USA. She has been creating award winning, cross-platform content since 1995.<\/p>\n

Franke James<\/strong> merges science, art and storytelling to inspire people to take action and \u201cdo the hardest thing first<\/a>\u201d for the planet. Franke uses her skills as an artist, photographer and writer to create visual essays<\/a> on environmental and social issues. Franke has delivered keynotes and workshops in Toronto,<\/a> Colorado,<\/a> Ottawa,<\/a> Northern Ontario<\/a>, Cincinnati,<\/a> Maine,<\/a> and at the Ontario Teachers Federation<\/a> climate change camps.<\/p>\n

Franke made news headlines<\/strong> for her environmental actions by successfully winning permission from Toronto City Hall for the right to build a green driveway<\/a>. Her work has been featured on the CBC National News, CBC Radio, Grist, Change.org, 350.org, Treehugger, YES! Magazine, Gopher Illustrated Magazine, The Toronto Star, National Post, Montreal Gazette, Times-Colonist, Ottawa Citizen, Worldchanging, and in numerous blogs. Her story A Green Winter<\/a> was part of an anthology entitled Perspectives on Contemporary Issues<\/em> that included stories from Stephen Lewis, Margaret Atwood, <\/strong>and David Suzuki<\/strong>. Franke produced A Green Winter<\/a> as an animated short. It was screened at the 2007 Green Living Show<\/strong> between appearances by Al Gore<\/strong> and Robert Kennedy, Jr.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Franke has a Masters in Fine Arts from the University of Victoria, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Mount Allison University. She lives in Toronto where her favorite mode of transportation is walking.<\/p>\n
