Tea Lake

My grandmother's cottage on Tea Lake in Algonquin Park, brings back wonderful memories around the campfire. Each summer evening at dusk we would gather kindling and start a fire by the shore of Tea Lake. Everyone was responsible for bringing our usual menu: hot dogs, marshmallows, and pokers for cooking.

Grandma "Gertie" is a legend in Algonquin Park since the 1930's. She would dazzle us with her stories of life gone by in the Park. From her visits and friendship with A.Y. Jackson, to customers from around the world who purchased her rug hookings and quilts, she made her stories very real for us.

Algonquin Park will always be a very special place in my heart and although she is gone her memories linger among the birds and trees on Tea Lake.
